Description
Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic piece of late 19th-century laundry history. This complete set includes a heavy pre-electric flat iron (sad iron) paired with a matching decorative cast iron trivet.
The iron features a highly legible embossed shield with the arched "Silvester's Patent" text and the iconic Staffordshire Knot trademark from George Salter & Co. (West Bromwich, England). It has a unique hollow, open-ended cool-draft tube handle designed to dissipate heat when resting on coal stoves.
The Victorian-style Fleur-de-Lis trivet features three short peg feet to protect wooden surfaces and an ornamental handle with a hanging loop.
Perfect as a rustic farmhouse decor accent, historical display piece, unique bookend, or heavy doorstop.
Condition:
Excellent antique condition with a wonderful dark, rustic patina. The cast details and lettering remain incredibly sharp and crisp. There is no deep pitting, cracking, or major structural damage—just minor superficial surface wear consistent with age.
