Select the size on how loosely you wish to wear it. Normally at least 2 inches greater than your chest size.

MEDIUM:: RECOMMENDED for chest sizes no greater than 44 inches

This shirt measures 46 inches around the chest (ie from under arm to under arm - measures approx. 23 inches across the chest)

LARGE::  RECOMMENDED for chest sizes no greater than 48 inches

This shirt measures 50 inches around the chest  (ie from under arm to under arm - measures approx. 25 inches across the chest)

XLARGE:  RECOMMENDED for chest sizes no greater than 50 inches

This shirt measures 52 inches around the chest  (ie from under arm to under arm - measures approx. 26 inches across the chest)
